I know that January is finally over, but I am finally ready to share my word of the year! I wrote a recap of 2018, and I spent a lot of time ruminating on what the word for this year would be. I had an idea of what I wanted to do this year, but I was having a lot of trouble distilling it down to one word. So, I’m sitting there thinking and talking to myself about all the things/ways I wanted to grow this year, and I was like, “Dammit Cathy, focus!!” And just like that, I had it.
My word for 2019 is FOCUS.
I tend to be a little scattered. I want to try everything, do everything, wear everything, eat everything, etc. And some things work out really well! Others….. well….. they just aren’t for me. And it’s time for me to cull the herd of things crowding my life, and focus in on the ones that matter to me.
I have the most awesome roster of clients right now. Every single one of them is so freaking awesome and feeds a different part of my soul. I want to maintain those relationships, and not push myself to take on more work. Because I have other work goals that are not related to client work, and it’s time for me to focus on that.
Last year was the year of rebirth for my work and my site. I rebranded, regrouped, and reworked my platform. This year is about focusing on the work that Cathy360 does – as a marketer, as a writer, as a storyteller, and as a digital creative. This year, I’ll be treating my site as a client and giving it the time and attention it deserves to help it grow and thrive!
I got derailed from my health goals at the end of 2018, but it’s not the end of the world. I know 100% what works for me and my body, and I return my focus to that. LCHF eating, regular exercise, and plenty of sleep are required to keep my physical health in check. Regular therapy and daily meds help keep my mental health in check. I don’t need to look for new and exciting fads and trends to try; I already have the recipe for success. I just need to focus on it.
I am not the best about being budget friendly. I LOVE LOVE LOVE shopping and trying new styles and new products, and new everything! But this year, I’m focusing in on the big financial goals that we have, and that means putting money towards that versus my regular spending habits. I’m not about that no-spend life (I’m focused, but I’m realistic), but sticking to my (lower) monthly budget is essential to reach the goals I’m really focused on!
I’ve been getting rid of so much stuff that I THOUGHT we needed to be good adults. We had a giant living room set and a HUGE dining room table set because I felt like that was what adult homes have. We have a home ready to entertain, but the reality is that we are
This narrowing of my focus feels like a natural progression of the last year. I’ve tested and tried all the things; I know what I want, and now I need to just lock in and focus. I can’t wait to see what 2019 brings!
