My Favorite Beauty Stuff …… And Things….

I got the idea for this post from my fabulous friend Grechen. (BTW, you should totes read her blog. She’s seriously awesome.) I’ve really stepped up my beauty stuff in the last year, mostly thanks to my awesome Birchbox subscription. Here’s are some of my favorite beauty and makeup products right now.

Beauty stuff - small

Row 1 (from Left)
Supergoop CC Cream (in Light-Medium): I got this as a sample in a Birchbox, and almost didn’t try it because I didn’t really know what a CC cream was. Obviously I did some research. This is my normal, everyday wear product in place of foundation. Great coverage, great color, and it has sunscreen! Plus, I just really like the name.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain (in Smitten): I bought this on a whim because the color was so pretty, and I was not disappointed. It’s very easy to wear – light, non sticky, and a pretty color without being overwhelming. Yeah, I know there’s a lot of lip gloss in here. I have a problem, what can I say?

Marcelle BB Cream (in Golden Glow): Another great sample from a Birchbox! This is my other foundation replacement. I wear this when I’m doing something other than running errands or working in a coffee shop. It gives my skin a nice glowy finish and doesn’t have that foundation pancakey-ness.

Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss (in Plum Luster): My friend Grechen wore a similar product on her site, and I loved it. The color I picked was a slightly different version, but still awesome. It’s not sticky like most lip glosses, but is highly pigmented like a lipstick. Like Hannah Montana, it’s the best of both worlds!

Beauty Protector Shampoo and Detangler: I got the detangler in a Birchbox last year, and had ordered the full size product before I was halfway finished with the sample. I don’t use conditioner on a regular basis (maybe once every 10 days or so) so the detangler is a great substitute. When Beauty Protector came out with Shampoo and Conditioner, I bought the whole trio. It’s vegan, paraben and sulfate free, smells amazing, and doesn’t weigh down my wimpy hair.

Chella Highlighter Pencil: This was another Birchbox product, but not a sample. I got the full size pencil in the box! At first I had no idea what to do with a highlighter pencil. Birchbox was kind enough to make an instructional video about the best ways to use the pencil. I usually use it in the corners of my eyes, under my brow bone, and in the cupid’s bow of my lips. It really helps bring out lip color. Yay for fun new products!

Rimmel Showoff Lip Laquer (in Galaxy): I stumbled on this color by accident. I was going somewhere, and I didn’t have the right back of lipglosses in my purse (yeah, I carry two. DON’T JUDGE ME.) So I ran into Walgreens and picked up this color because it was cheap, I liked the shade, and I figured I couldn’t go too wrong with Rimmel. Boy was I right! This has turned out to be one of my favorite colors. It’s good for everyday wear because it’s long lasting, not sticky, and not too overpowering.

Jordana Easy Liner Retractable Eye Pencil (in Coffee Bean and Black): I’m gonna be honest: I SUCK at eye makeup. I’m blind without my glasses, so it’s not always easy to see what I’m doing. Plus, I can’t really close one eye at a time (seriously, you should see my wink) and eye stuff makes me nervous. Retractable eye pencils are pretty much cheating, and I know they don’t give you as much control as regular eye pencils, and they are not as badass as liquid eyeliner. But I have to work with what I’ve got. These pencils are like $2 a piece, they last forever, they stay put really well, and come in a ton of colors. What more could I want??

What’s in your beauty arsenal???
