Plus Size Outfit – Black and Gray and Breaking Rules

Before I start this ridiculously cute outfit post, I’d like to send a very big THANK YOU out in the world to all of the kind folks that read and responded to my last post. It’s not always easy to put super personal stuff out there, but the kind words made it all worth it. Y’all are the best!

So now let’s talk clothes. It comes as no surprise to long-time reader friends that I love neutral colors. Yes, there was a time long, long ago when I wore tons of color. But these days, I embrace a much more muted palette. I like to save my color my lips!

One of my very favorite fashion rules to break is the one about horizontal stripes. I freaking love stripes y’all, and I wear them whenever I can. The fact that this dress came in a comfy style, includes my two favorite colors (black and gray are the best!!), AND has stripes means that we were meant for each other! I love wearing this dress so much. The sleeves make it seem so much fancier than it feels.

I have two dresses now with ruffle sleeves, and it is quickly becoming my favorite way to feel fancy without having to actually elevate my outfit. It’s like lipstick; when I wear it, my look is automatically elevated with little to no effort. And that is really the foundation of my aesthetic; fancy without effort. I like to look good, but I’m lazy.

What’s your favorite way to elevate your look? Are you secretly a lazy dresser like me?
